Triston Marez Set To Release Debut EP, “That Was All Me” + [Exclusive Premiere]

Triston Marez first caught our attention in 2017 with his debut single “Take Me Home”.  He then continued the momentum with another great single in April of 2018: “Out on the Dance Floor”.  After being hooked by just two songs (that amassed a combined 330K combined streams on Spotify), we’ve been eagerly anticipating a lengthier project, and we’re now excited to announce that the wait is over!  Marez, who was recently signed to Torrez Music Group, will drop his debut EP, “That Was All Me” January, 25th!

The Houston, Texas native’s 5 track EP offers the listener stories of love, longing, life, and good times.  Throughout most of the project, the former ranch hand and bull rider finds a pleasurable middle ground of Texas country and neo-traditional country that makes us think of a young Rick Trevino.  A few times he does slip in to more of a modern country flavor, but there are plenty of fiddle licks (Jon Conley), passionate steel (Rusty Danmyer), honest lyrics, and pure-country moments to make this project something that will definitely make a splash in the Texas/Red Dirt scene.

For those not familiar with Marez, it’ll only take a few notes of the first song, to realize he has a voice and presence that just draws you right in. You can hear the confidence in the delivery and the 22-year-old’s rich twangy vocals are the kind that are perfect for star-filled Texas skies, two-stepping across sawdust, and turning up a little too loud with the windows down on a farm-to-market road.  If you need further proof of the magnetism of Marez’s voice, check out the twitter following the 2014 Houston Live Stock Show & Rodeo Rockstar Competition winner has amassed by putting out acoustic videos of solid originals and impressive Cody Johnson, Aaron Watson and George Straight covers (among others).

While you’ll still have to wait a few weeks for the full project, we’re excited to give you an early listen to one of our favorites from the EP “Where Rivers Are Red And Cowboys Are Blue”.  I’m a sucker for sad country songs and this one captures the feeling of longing for a loved one perfectly.  Set against a scenic background of colorful lyrics and emotion-inducing imagery, the complimentary neo-traditional instrumentation and Marez’s vocals bring hit home! This is what a sad country song is supposed to sound like!

The song will be available as “grat track” after pre-ordering the album; which you’ll be able to do in just a couple of days, so make sure you’re on the lookout.  Also be sure to stay tuned to Marez’s socials for updates on the upcoming EP!

A young Houston native, with a killer voice, a good look, impressive social media following, noteworthy Spotify stream counts, and new music on the way….we have a feeling Triston Marez is set for a breakout year!

  1. I love Triston’s music as I know it comes from the deepest part of who he is. It comes from a long line of musicians in the family who have been long passed on that continue on through him.
This is that kind of music that makes you want listen to it while you sit on a fence and stare at the perfect Texas sunset. Or, grab you sweetheart and dance to it in front of your headlights on a sweet quiet spot. Close your eyes while you listen and you will hear country music like from the past. I am his Granny so that makes me right….right?
