Cody Johnson Pays Respect to Sante Fe Victims
The East Texas Native created a moment of silence that gives even video viewers chills as he paused his concert in Amarillo on May 18th. “You could hear a pen drop,” said Destiney Pate who posted the video to Facebook. “One of the many reasons I love and respect Cody Johnson! prayers for everyone involved and impacted by the Santa Fe school shooting!”
American Aquarium Gets Some New Wheels!
Pour one out for “Sarah Silvervan” and congrats to the band! No word of the new stallion’s name yet but it has already carried the band across state lines this week for the kick off of the Things Change Tour in Tulsa. Check out more tour stops here.

Randy Rogers Plans to Open a Restaurant, Venue and Event Space ChopShop Live in Roake, Texas.
Randy Rogers announced he will be partnering with Rock Libations to open a one-of-a-kind event restaurant and event space called ChopShop Live. According to Eater Dallas, “Rogers partnered with restaurateurs Josh Babb and Sean Clavir, the minds behind Arts District Asian restaurant Musumé and Lewisville’s Prohibition Chicken, for the new venture, which is set to open its doors this summer.” The grand opening of ChopShop will take place on July 14th and Rogers, along with guest Wade Bowen, will christen the new joint with a concert.

The King of Country and Texas Legislative Conference Texan of the Year, George Strait celebrated his 66th birthday on May 18th. Strait returns to Texas on June 2nd for the sold-out STRAIT TEXAS Frank Erwin Center’s 40th Anniversary Celebration in Austin. Happy Birthday, George!

Red Dirt favorites Cody Canada and the Departed revealed this week that new music is arriving next month. The album “3” will be released on June 29th.
Drew Kennedy and Josh Grider Set to Record Live Album
Drew Kennedy and Josh Grider recently announced that the friends are (in their words) “finally” making an album together. The live album recording is scheduled for July 5th at Main Street Crossing in Tomball, Texas.

Bill Murray Dropped in on Some DFW Songwriters!
The comedian and beloved Texan stopped and took a seat at Fort Worth’s Filthy McNasty’s and gave some locals a listen. Skylar Payne hosts the weekly song swap and got some awesome feedback from Murray on one of his self-titled EP tracks “Insane”.
Eli Young Band Supports the Wounded Warrior Project
Eli Young Band released a new video for their single “Love Ain’t”. In support of the Wounded Warrior Project, the video captures the heartwarming love story between quadruple amputee war casualty, Taylor Morris and his girlfriend (now wife), Danielle with the message that “Love ain’t always easy..but that’s when it matters most.” Check out the video below and read more about the Taylor and Danielle here.
