Zach Coffey releases his second EP, ‘Genesis’ this Friday and we are excited to share that he has delivered quite the collection of tunes!
‘Genesis’ Track Listing:
- Fire Without A Flame
- Over Ain’t Over
- Nobody Frames Bad Days
- Ease Your Mind
Recorded in Houston, Texas at Stormy Cooper Media, ‘Genesis’ was produced by Joel Tolley and features five original tracks, four of which were co-written by Coffey. “This EP is a new start for me,” explains Coffey. “I finally found the direction I wanted to head. I love the story of a song and I want the lyrics to actually say something. I had to go live life for a little while to be able to say something worth hearing. I named the EP, Genesis, because that’s literally what I’m doing. I’m starting new.” Coffey’s new start kicked off with the burning lead single, “Wildfire”, released earlier this summer.
The soulful maturity in Coffey’s sound sets him apart from the rest and this strength shines throughout the album. Coffey blends both traditional and modern elements to deliver a diverse set of songs and stories.
The catchy rock riffs in “Wildfire” and the bluesy uplifting lyrics and grooves delivered in tunes such as “Fire Without a Flame” and “Ease Your Mind” will make you want to tear up the dance floor. While the heartfelt yearning love song “Over and Over” slows the tempo down just right and is perfect for pulling someone closer for a smooth slow dance or perhaps just kicking back with a drink in hand as you sing along.
Our *PICK* of the album is the relatable and reminiscent “Nobody Frames Bad Days”…a tale of a relationship that is no longer and a song you won’t be able to listen to just once. Using traditional imagery and a never-more-relevant theme of lyrics, Coffey addresses modern social media standards and how “people’s lives are not necessarily how they may appear”. The waltzing of the heavy fiddle and steel guitar instrumentals along with Coffey’s emotional vocal dynamics sink in the heaviness of heartache’s trial to the empathetic listener. The clever approach, the solid relevancy, and the impressive sound make this track one of a kind in a whole new way!
Join us in welcoming back Coffey by streaming or downloading ‘Genesis’ when it releases this Friday. Or, if you’re in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, you can grab your copy of the album and hear these tunes live at Coffey’s album release show this weekend at Fort Worth Live.
