Our spotlight shines on JB and the Moonshine Band this week! Their new single, “When it Rains I Pour” hit Texas Regional Radio Report at #109 and had the *HIGHEST DEBUT* on the Texas Music Spotify Chart last week! Sitting at #13 on our chart this week, the track was recorded at a studio the band converted from an old lake house outside of town, where front-man JB Patterson not only wrote the song, but also produced, performed, recorded, and mixed this song himself.
The tune came to fruition after a long hard run that wrapped up at Denim Diamonds in Wichita Falls, Texas. “We had just finished loading up the trailer and I sat down and cracked open a beer. Right then it started pouring down rain. The bottom just fell out. I looked over at Hayden and said ‘welp, when it rains, it pours’ (as I took a drink)… and then I thought, ‘when it rains… I pour’… I took out a pen and paper and 30 minutes later I had the whole song” Patterson told us.
Here at TMP we really dig the witty lyrics, the twangy ring of the guitars and crying fiddle licks. The heavy harmonies and melancholic vibe do a spot on job of reflecting the song’s intertwined message of stormy weather and heartbreak. With this being the the first glimpse into the band’s next project, it certainly makes us excited to hear what’s on the horizon!
