Up-and-comer, Grant Gilbert released his debut EP, “Lost in Transition”, in January of 2017 and has been garnering buzz ever since. With nearly 50K combined streams from that project on Spotify, the Santo, TX native, is gearing up for his next record, and we’re excited to bring you an early listen to the lead single: “Part of You”!
Produced by Scott Faris at Amusement Park Studios, Gilbert wrote the song about going out and running in to an ex. “The night could be going great until they showed up wherever you are. Then after a few drinks, things are right back where they started” Gilbert told us.
“When we’re sober, we both know it’s over,
But a few drinks, and you start leaning in,
And a part of me that still wants us, knows there’s a part of you that I can’t trust
I wish I could have it all”
Here at TMP we definitely noticed the growth and maturation on this tune from the previous collection of songs. Gilbert’s songwriting has taken a step up and the over-all sound is elevated. We dig the the energetic vibe and correlated punch of the chorus and backbeat. You can feel the emotion of the song in Gilbert’s passionate and confident delivery, which gets the listener to really dig in. This one certainly has us anticipating what the rest of the upcoming tunes will have in-store for us, and good news…. they’re on the way!
“We are in the studio working on our first full length album right now, which will be out in September titled “Hub City Shakedown” Gilbert told TMP.
He’s also got some great shows coming up including LJT this week and TMP’s Pickin’ & Peelin’ festival this weekend, so if you get the chance, be sure to catch a live show!
Stay tuned to Gilbert’s social media for updates on the upcoming album, and enjoy an early listen to “Part of You” below. Be sure to add it to your playlist once it drops this Wednesday (4/25)!
You’ll also be able to hear “Part of You” (once it drops), as well as, other great Texas Country, Red Dirt, and Americana artists here on our TMP Spotify Playlist!
