We’re excited to announce that highly acclaimed Texas songwriter, Terry McBride, will be joining the judge’s panel for the final round of our 4th Annual TMP Songwriter Competition! McBride joins a panel made up of talent buyers from 9 festivals and 13 venues (from 5 different states), as well as some top industry personnel (management, booking, radio etc…) and to top it all off, the Global Head of Country Music at Spotify! Here at TMP, we are obviously thrilled to have such an accomplished songwriter be apart of the judging process that’s going to be full of tough decisions!
McBride scored a #1 (Sacred Ground) as well as a string of Top 5 hits, with his group McBride and the Ride in the 90’s, but that’s only where his songwriting accolades begin…
After McBride & the Ride disbanded, Terry began to focus most of his attention on songwriting, and through the years since has had songs cut by other artists such as Garth Brooks, George Strait, Reba McEntire, Hank Williams Jr., Ronnie Dunn, Kix Brooks, Alan Jackson, Trace Adkins, Easton Corbin, Lost Frequencies, Kenny Rogers, John Anderson, Cole Swindell, Jim Lauderdale, Chase Bryant, Clare Dunn, Ricky Van Shelton, George Ducas, David Ball, Casey James, Wade Hayes, Gretchen Wilson, Andy Griggs, Jedd Hughes, Jason Michael Carroll, James Otto, Gord Bamford, Emerson Drive, Rosie Flores, as well as Texas stars Cody Johnson, Jack Ingram, and Josh Ward. In 2004, Terry co-wrote American Idol finalist Josh Gracin’s top five single “Stay With Me/Brass Bed”. He followed that up by co-writing “Play Something Country” with Ronnie Dunn, which was the fastest rising single of Brooks and Dunn’s career and was also the final #1 song for the award-winning duo. Terry has had over 25 songs recorded by Brooks & Dunn, which led to 13 singles and 12 BMI million air awards.

Yet after nearly 15 years away from the spotlight, McBride is ready to return to center stage. Inspired by the honky-tonks and dance halls of his youth, he released the Hotels & Highways EP in 2017, with more new music to follow in the months ahead. By turning his attention to songwriting, he’s been able to take care of his voice – which sounds just as strong and distinctive as it ever has.
So not only will Terry McBride be in Texas to join the judge’s panel at our TMP Songwriter Competition, he’ll be performing at some great venues. If you’re looking for an opportunity to catch an amazing Texas songwriter and performer….here’s you chance!
Here’s where you can catch Terry while he’s in Texas!
